About COEDN:
Children’s Orthopedics Education for Developing Nations (COEDN) is a program developed by Pediatric Orthopedic and Spine surgeon, Mark Barry, M.D. COEDN is under the umbrella of a Non-Governmental Organization called Global Help Initiative that has a 501(c)(3) status, and is based out of Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States.
The goal of COEDN is to provide fellowship level training for orthopedic surgeons in-country and thereby help bring sustainable pediatric orthopedic care to the developing world. Multiple visiting surgeon volunteers from North America and other training centers around the world provide training for 3 doctorate level local surgeons interested in becoming pediatric orthopedic surgery sub-specialists. COEDN volunteer surgeon-educators each visit for 4-6 weeks per month for a total of 12-18 months. Both didactic and surgical training is provided.
Our dedicated trainers are top Pediatric Orthopedic surgeons who come from across the globe. They come as volunteers for a meaningful 4-6 weeks. We teach our “pearls” which come from decades of experience not only from surgery, but also training others. Many come from top training centers and bring a wealth of wisdom and ideas. COEDN truly appreciates their their impactful participation.
